10-Barrel WTI Crude Oil Futures on 24-7 Trading

Effective Sunday, August 30 (trade date Monday, August 31), CME Group will launch 10-Barrel WTI Crude Oil futures.

10-Barrel WTI Crude Oil futures is a cash-settled crude oil futures instrument (lookalike to Micro Crude Oil futures) with a 10-barrel unit of measure quantity. These futures will trade continuously on CME Globex and follow 24/7 technical market functionality and maintenance windows. All holiday or weekend trading from Friday evening through Sunday evening will have a trade date of the following business day, with clearing, settlement and regulatory reporting processed the following business day.

Testing and Certification

Certification is not required for customer systems already certified to CME MDP 3.0 Market Data, iLink Order Entry, and Drop Copy 4.0 Service for iLink. However, testing is strongly encouraged.

New release testing is available from Sunday, 5:00 p.m. Central Time (CT) to Friday, 4:00 p.m. CT. Weekend testing is not available.

    • A user name and password is required to access the SFTP site.

iLink Order Entry

At the beginning of the Saturday extended maintenance window, CME Globex disconnects all clients' sessions, resets sequence numbers, and cancels resting day orders and mass quotes. Pre-registered administrative information is removed during the Saturday maintenance window. Clients must re-submit their Party Details Definition following the pre-open on Saturday.

Market Segment Gateway (MSGW)

All existing iLink Order Entry functionality is supported. Client systems may leverage existing iLink MSGW sessions.

Convenience Gateway (CGW)

iLink CGW sessions support 7-day markets.

Clients must have a 7-day enabled CGW iLink session to support 7 day trading.

  • 7-day CGW sessions support all Globex futures and options markets, including 24/7 markets.

  • 5-day CGW sessions can only submit futures and options orders during the weekday.

Credit and Risk Management

With this launch, CME Globex Credit Controls (GC2) supports unique GC2 weekend limits. Client specified limits may affect weekend GT order cancellation. The GC2 weekday schedule for 5-day clients begins Sunday at 4:05 p.m. CT. At this time, 5-day client systems can start trading. For weekday limits, 5-day clients can trade during the expanded weekday schedule. Weekend credit GC2 limits for 10-Barrel WTI Crude Oil Futures should be setup for the NYMEX exchange.

7-day clients should follow the standard product schedule.
